What skills do you already have? What skills do you need to improve on?
Activity 5: LET'S GET STARTED!
In this activity, you will engage in sports activities to gauge your present skills
in active recreational activities.
Chosen sports ( Basketball)
What skills do you already have?
- basic dribbling (ability to move the ball on the court and the opportunity to make an offense by dribbling the ball). It is the most important skills in playing basketball. You can only move on the court while handling the ball by dribbling.
- Passing (ability to pass the ball to your teammates who is in the position with high percentage of scoring)
- Shooting (it is the most needed skills in basketball, you can score if you shoot the ball. Shooting outside is difficult, it needs more focus and practice. There are a lots of method in shooting ball, you can lay it up to the rim or you dunk it to the rim. Michael Jordan uses his signature move the Fade Away jump shoot which creates space to the defender having an open look to the rim. This is one of the most difficult skills a player can have considering MJs consistency in doing the shoot.
- Rebounding (ability to get the ball midair to gain offense)
- Defense ( defend your opponent from making a basket without committing fouls.
What skills do you need to improve on?
All of the skills mentioned above needs to be improve to be a better player in the court. Some players focus on defense and some players focus on offense. I focus on both but quite difficult to do it consistency in every game. In general, I am not a good basketball player, I just love playing the sports. My height is also an issue, taller player can play well and dominant in this game. But, in the NBA, most smaller players like Curry is the most dominant specially in making 3 points.
